I'm Atsuo Kobayashi, General Manager of TDK's HDD heads business.

Sales Results in FY2010 and Forecast for FY2011

Allow me to report on the HDD heads business' sales for fiscal 2010 and give you our forecasts for fiscal 2011.

We recorded sales of ¥133.4 billion in the first half and ¥145.6 billion in the second half, for total sales of ¥279.0 billion for fiscal 2010. We estimate that our market share in fiscal 2010 was approximately 32%. Compared to fiscal 2009, the number of HGA units rose by more than 30%. However, sales in monetary terms increased only 13% because of the negative impact of forex fluctuations, discounting and product mix factors. For fiscal 2011, we are projecting full-year sales of ¥303.7 billion, comprising ¥150.3 billion in the first half and ¥153.4 billion in the second half. This would represent an approximate 9% year-on-year increase in sales. We are aiming to lift our market share to at least 35%. In the past we have reported a schedule for launching new HDD heads. However, from now on, we will not be reporting this information as it may reveal details of our customers' development plans and certain other information. Thank you for your understanding.
