- Comprehensive renovation of the "Future Zone" at TDK Museum, part of TDK's 90th anniversary initiatives.
- The renovation concept is "Discover, Create, Connect."
- The renovated zone aims to showcase TDK’s technologies that contribute to social transformation and to communicate with younger audiences who will lead the next generation.
TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) will reopen the “TDK Museum” in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture, Japan, on April 3 following a renovation as part of its 90th anniversary commemorative activities. The renovation is based on the concept of “Discover, Create, Connect,” and the “Future Zone” will be completely redesigned. Through this renovation, the company aims to strengthen its outreach to younger audiences, who will help lead the next generation.
In 2005, as part of its 70th anniversary, TDK opened the “TDK History Museum” to introduce the history of monozukuri craftsmanship at TDK. In 2016, to mark its 80th anniversary, the museum was renovated and reopened as the “TDK Museum,” incorporating future-oriented elements that highlight how TDK’s technologies will transform society.
As part of our 90th-anniversary initiatives, the museum will completely renovate the “Future Zone”. The renovation concept is “Discover, Create, Connect,” and will introduce the following three new zones within the Future Zone.
- "Discovery Zone": an experiential exhibition area that clearly communicates TDK’s latest R&D and basic science.
- "Creation Zone": a zone where visitors can output and shape their ideas for new futures.
- "Connection Zone": a zone introducing TDK’s global bases and our ties to local communities.
In addition, the TDK Guest House, a restaurant next to the TDK Museum, will also undergo renovations. The layout will be changed to a more casual setting and seating capacity will be increased, aiming to create a restaurant that more people can enjoy. TDK Guest House will adopt a new approach to our cuisine: alongside the fresh seasonal delights of Akita that we have long offered, the restaurant will coordinate with TDK’s global bases featured in the Connection Zone to present limited-time menus that showcase the distinctive flavors of each region.
For 90 years, TDK has quietly shaped the world from within while continually transforming itself. TDK believes that it will be the younger generation who will further accelerate and advance this societal transformation. With the renovated TDK Museum now reopening, we will broadcast information globally from Akita, the birthplace of our founder, so that the museum becomes a catalyst for the younger generation to open up their futures.
