TDK wins Grand Prix in CEATEC AWARD 2022

October 18, 2022

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) announces that TDK's i3 Micro Module has won the Grand Prix in the Smart x Industries Category in the CEATEC AWARD 2022.
The CEATEC AWARD marks its 12th anniversary this year. The CEATEC AWARD 2022 judging committee examines and evaluates, among the technologies, products, and services exhibited at CEATEC 2022, those entered by the exhibitors beforehand, assesses their academic and technological attributes, their marketability, potential and innovativeness and recognizes the particularly excellent among them.
TDK's i3 Micro Module, the winner of the award this year, is the world’s first wireless mesh sensor module featuring an embedded edge AI and contributes to the predictive maintenance of many types of equipment. i3 Micro Module is a compact and user-friendly autonomic sensing solution. It includes an industrial grade acceleration sensor and other features and is compact and easy to mount in the targeted equipment. The module is able to wirelessly facilitate predictive maintenance and automatically interconnect with other i3 Micro Modules, forming a wireless network, enabling it to establish a highly reliable system that covers a wide area. In addition, each module has embedded edge AI, which allows it to send only the information that is required for detecting conditions, and it boasts other features including low-power consumption and a long lifetime. As edge AI can process data to determine conditions inside the module, it ensures the confidentiality of the data. i3 Micro Module enables predictive maintenance by integrating AI and IOT and makes it possible to improve quality through the visualization of conditions, to improve productivity by minimizing the downtime caused by equipment whose operation is suspended and to reduce cost by extending the lifetime of the design.
i3 Micro Module received the award because of the committee highly evaluated realization of predictive maintenance, versatility, and marketability, such as high quality with industrial grade sensor, easy addition and deletion of sensors and other features of the module.

TDK aims to expand its growth opportunities and ultimately increase its corporate value following two major trends, DX (Digital Transformation) and EX (Energy Transformation).
By continuing to create valuable technologies and provide products, TDK will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
