TDK Corporation (President: Takehiro Kamigama), as an IAAF official partner, presents a prize money of USD 100,000 under the "New World Record Award" program to Ashton Eaton, USA who won the gold medal setting a new world record of Decathlon at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics ("WCA") 2015 Beijing which took place in Greater China for the first time. In the awarding ceremony that took place after the competition on August 30 (Sunday), the player was presented with a replica of a check for USD 100,000 from President Kamigama on which TDK's company name is printed.

TDK whose corporate motto is "Contribute to culture and industry through creativity" identifies with IAAF whose principle is "Contribute to society through expansion and development of the sport of athletics." TDK has been sponsoring the WCA since the first championship games in Helsinki in 1983 as the official sponsor and supplier of athlete's bibs. Since 1997, TDK has held the right to sponsor a program named "New World Record Award" under which TDK offers a prize money of USD 100,000 for each new world record established in men's competition. TDK has given the New World Record Award 6 times in the past. The 7th award was won by Ashton Eaton, USA in the WCA 2015 Beijing.

TDK has supported the World Championships in Athletics as a bib sponsor ever since the first tournament in Helsinki. Our desire in particular is to support those athletes who continue the endless challenge of breaking records and to back young athletes who endeavor to attract the future. It is, after all, the same DNA as that of TDK, which, on the basis of its strength in magnetic technology, has continued to create technologies that change the future. The young athletes are like the young employees of TDK seeking to change the future through technology. It is connected with "Attracting Tomorrow", as of our new communication message.

TDK has concluded an official partner contract with the IAAF until 2019, so we will be continuing to support the World Championships in Athletics as an official partner even after the Beijing tournament.
