In June, countries worldwide observe Pride Month to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ rights, celebrate diversity and promote inclusion. At TDK, Pride Month activities are part of the company’s ongoing dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion and it aligns with our long-term development strategy focused on Inclusive Leadership.
A Commitment to Inclusive Leadership
TDK CEO Noboru Saito reinforced TDK’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where every employee feels safe, respected and empowered to thrive. Our CEO emphasized Inclusive Leadership as a key element of the company’s strategy and highlighted the importance of valuing diverse backgrounds, perspectives and identities.
According to Noboru Saito allyship plays an essential role in supporting the LGBTQ+ community and cultivating a culture of respect and growth. Through these efforts, TDK can build an environment where everyone can be their authentic selves and take pride in who they are.
TDK’s Corporate Pride Month Initiatives
To strengthen awareness, education and allyship, TDK has planned global activities through Pride Month and beyond.
- Pride Visual support: Employees are encouraged to show the support using specially designed Pride-themed wallpapers and visual displays (such as stickers and pins) to promote a safe environment for our LGBTQ+ colleagues.
- LGBTQ+ Awareness Learning Program: Throughout June, employees in Japan will be able to access e-learning program with LGBTQ+ Individuals. Offers basic knowledge about the topic and help better understand of challenges and concerns of LGBTQ+ individuals may face at work. During July and September TDK also planning to hold study sessions on LGBTQ+ topics for managers at factories sites.
- Participation in Tokyo Pride 2026: TDK took part in Tokyo Pride 2026, one of Japan ‘s leading events dedicated to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and promoting social acceptance. The event occurred at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo June 7, bringing together organizations, allies and community members.
- Pride Month cafeteria event: Pride-inspired menu offering at TDK HQ together with educational and awareness building displays.
- LGBTQ+ Exhibitions: Educational exhibition related to the topic will be held across TDK sites in Japan.
- Community Board: In Europe, interactive boards were placed in the TDK Europe office reception area in Munich, inviting team members to share their thoughts, perspectives, and reflections on Inclusive Leadership and Diversity & Inclusion.
Those initiatives and programs aim to encourage conversation, learning and greater understanding among employees. TDK's commitment to continuous learning and strengthen Inclusive Leadership development, will help leaders to create a supportive workplace where all employees can contribute and thrive.
