About TDK | Intellectual PropertyTDK is highly esteemed for the number of international patents related to the SDGs

In April 2024, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published “Mapping Innovations: Patents and the Sustainable Development Goals”. This report contains the results of an analysis focusing on the link between patents and the SDGs, using LexisNexis' LexisNexis® Patentsight+.

In this report, TDK is ranked 23rd based on the number of SDG-related international patents in Japan, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of over 10% (Figures 19 and 20, Table 4, PP35-37). In particular, it has the third highest Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of all the companies and institutes listed in this report. This result reflects the strengthening of the patent portfolio of the TDK Group's battery business. Patents related to rechargeable batteries can be evaluated as relevant to Goals No. 9 " Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure" and No. 13 "Climate Action" as defined in the SDGs.
We will continue our efforts to develop technologies that contribute to the SDGs.
