What is the RBA?

In the field of global CSR, the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) is the world’s largest corporate alliance dedicated to promoting labor safety, the safeguarding of human rights, concern for the environment and ethical business practices throughout the supply chain. As of 2026, the RBA had over 250 member companies, mainly electronics firms but also including companies in other sectors such as automotive manufacturing, retailing and toy manufacturing. The TDK Group joined the RBA in March 2020, and has been working to build a sound, healthy supply chain in accordance with the RBA Code of Conduct.
The RBA has formulated a Code of Conduct that applies globally, and uses Validated Assessment Program (VAP) assessments to verify compliance status for both member companies and their suppliers, so as to promote improvements.

What is a VAP assessment?

The Validated Assessment Program (VAP) is the RBA’s core verification program. To confirm whether member companies are conducting their business activities in accordance with the RBA Code of Conduct, the RBA arranges for RBA-approved third parties to carry out assessments. The assessment criteria cover five main areas: Labor, Health & Safety, Environment, Ethics, and Management Systems; member companies are assigned a specific VAP recognition level status (Silver for a score of 160–179 points; Gold for a score of 180–199 points; Platinum for a perfect score of 200).
