TDK appoints sprinter Towa Uzawa as a TDK Athlete Ambassador!

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) announced that it has appointed Towa Uzawa (University of Tsukuba) as a TDK Athlete Ambassador. In this role, he will act as an ambassador, embodying TDK's idea that transformation starts from the passion within. This appointment is in anticipation of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25, in which TDK is an official sponsor.

Towa Uzawa was a baseball player while in junior high school, with dreams of appearing at Koshien Stadium as animble centerfielder. But after he encountered pain in his elbow during practice, he was forced to give up this dream. This was a turning point for him, and he chose to pursue sprinting after moving on to high school. This was the start of a new challenge. Towa attempted a daunting transformation from baseball to track athlete. Nonetheless, he managed to become the top sprinter at his high school in just 18 months, overcoming a variety of challenges. He then went to the University of Tsukuba and has been selected for the world's major championships. At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Towa Uzawa, as his first Olympics, competed in the Men’s 200m and reached the semifinals, which no other Japanese athlete has been able to achieve during the last three editions.

Towa Uzawa continues to move forward in new ways toward his dream while believing in himself. He connects with TDK's idea for the world championships that transformation starts from the passion within as TDK continues to take on challenges while transforming ourselves to help realize a better future society through technology. For this reason, he was appointed as a TDK Athlete Ambassador. Through a variety of action and together with Towa, TDK will support Towa's peers and all people who take on challenges with inner passion.
