TDK supports the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23 through Official Partner activities

TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) is supporting the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23 (hereinafter the "WCH 23") that will be held in Budapest, Hungary from August 19 to 27 as an Official Partner. We have supported the World Athletics Championships since the inaugural event in Helsinki back in 1983. WCH 23 is the 19th championships, marking a milestone 40th year of TDK’s official partnership. TDK has continued to sponsor the World Athletics Championships based on its wish to support the athletes who are seeking to define their own futures through an unstinting commitment to attempt new records and personal improvements, a commitment that is in line with TDK’s own corporate stance of defining its future by using its unique expertise to contribute to society with new technologies.
Around 2,000 top athletes from more than 200 countries and regions will compete in 49 events during WCH 23. This is more athletes and events than the athletics program at the Olympics. The World Athletics Championships stand with the Olympics in significance for track and field athletes and have been the venue of many world record-setting performances and classic winning moments.
All over the world, TDK supports athletes who are pushing their personal limits.
About our activities at the WCH 23
Virtual Reality (VR) experience to communicate the enjoyment of track and field events and TDK’s technological activities
- (1) The TDK booth enables visitors to experience 360° VR imagery
- Affiliated companies will run booths in the Fan Zone in downtown Budapest for a limited time, during the 13 days from August 15 to 27. A unique feature of TDK’s booth will be a VR experience featuring 360° imagery.
This features VR track and field events and the TDK Techno Experience: the former enables visitors to participate in two events, the pole vault and the 110 m hurdles from the athlete’s perspective while the latter features a virtual show room visualizing the many applications of TDK's technologies in a wide range of domains.
Communicating the connection between athletics and TDK in an easy-to-understand manner
- (1) Showing the branding video, Start Believing in Yourself
- The video was made to communicate TDK's hope to be able to support not only the athletes but everyone who is about to make a new start from the LED board at the starting line of the 100 m sprint. The starting equipment is supported by TDK’s power supplies.

- The movie will be shown at the stadium and the local Fan Zones and on many different media platforms such as:
- The National Athletics Centre stadium screen
- A large screen in the Fan Zone in Erzsébet Square
- TV commercials on TBS and BS-TBS
- Social media
- (2) A special webpage featuring the WCH 23 has been set up on TDK's website
- An official WCH 23 and TDK webpage has been created. The webpage includes content that can be seen only on this website, such as all of winners of the competitions that have taken place and all the world records that have been set since the first WCH event was held, and reveals the surprising relationship between athletics and electronic components. TDK’s social contribution activities, inspiring children to participate in athletics
- (1) Holding the 5th Rising Stars Clinic
- On August 24, we will hold the 5th Rising Stars Clinic.
The Rising Stars Clinic, TDK’s unique social contribution activity, dates back to the 16th World Athletics Championships in London. It is an opportunity for local children to interact with international athletes and learn to enjoy track and field events.
Based on our wish to create more opportunities for children who are interested in track and field events to aspire to a career as an athlete, the Rising Stars Clinic is held regularly to coincide with the international championships organized by World Athletics (WA) and sponsored by TDK as an official partner.
TDK's other sponsorship activities include:
- Men’s bib sponsor (Display of the TDK logo on competition and presentation bibs)
- Support new world records (TDK will present $100,000 to any male athlete, who sets a new world record and $50,000 for the mixed relay)
- Display of the TDK logo on the LED board installed at the 100 metres sprint start line
- Provision of TDK-Lambda brand AC input power sources (AC-DC converters) for the LED board at the starting line of the 100 m dash
- Placement of TDK logo boards in the stadium (LED) and along the marathon and race walking courses
- Display of TDK corporate branding video on the large screen in the stadium, and in the FAN ZONE
