TDK’s new headquarters in Nihonbashi, Tokyo
- Introducing an “experience-style” showroom as the new TDK Group core information base
- New vigorous office environment and work style with the aim to create global value

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) hereby announces that it has moved its global headquarters to Nihonbashi (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and commenced operation today.
The new headquarters has been created with the target to become an active interaction space with stakeholders around the world as a new core base leading the global TDK Group. TDK continues to follow its corporate motto “Contribute to culture and industry through creativity” and aims to constantly create new innovations and solutions that contribute to the development of future societies by using resources and knowledge of TDK Group employees worldwide.
As the TDK Group’s new information base, TDK has installed an “experience-style” showroom to give visitors better insight into TDK’s origin, history, present and growth strategy. Visitors can experience TDK solutions based on the concept of Kotozukuri (integrated solutions) in addition to Monozukuri (manufacturing excellence). The showroom at TDK headquarters will collaborate with the Technical Center (in Ichikawa-shi, Chiba-ken, Japan) (*), a core base for the company’s research and development, as well as TDK Group company showrooms around the world.
(*) In January 2019, a new building is planned to be completed at the Technical Center.
* This facility is not open to the public.
Moving forward, TDK will aim to create new value in the office environment and work style where employees, who support the future growth of TDK, can work with vigor and communicate openly.
The features of the new headquarters are detailed below.
I. Touch, look, and “experience.” Delivering the appeal of TDK from the showroom! -
The showroom (325 m2) was installed to allow visitors to experience the attractive TDK.
Features of the showroom
- 1. Introduction of corporate information with touch panels
Visitors can browse information about TDK’s history, products, and technologies by using touch panels, or watch videos about the company. - 2. Introduction of highlight products for major applications via 3D touch screens
Visitors can experience TDK products inside s Automobiles, Smartphones and others with 3D animation by operating a tablet terminal. - 3. Exhibits of demo samples, and virtual reality tours
Visitors can experience TDK’s technologies via demo samples, as well as enjoy a virtual tour of “TDK Museum” (in Nikaho-shi, Akita-ken, Japan) by using a VR headset.

Through a new branding movie, TDK conveys an image of the future enabled by TDK products in upcoming applications such as 5G, IoT, Autonomous cars, Robotics and others. - 5. Welcomes customers with a large panel presenting a future created by TDK
At the entrance of “Resonance,” a large panel showcasing all upcoming applications showcased in the new branding movie is installed. Visitors can see additional short movies featuring TDK employees explaining the role of TDK products inside these applications. - 6. Exhibits of “Bons-AI,” a bonsai that can talk to people
With TDK’s cutting-edge technology, it exhibits “Bons-AI,” a bonsai that talks with people and scrounges water. Please enjoy talking with “Bons-AI.”

II. New value creation by benefitting from a vigorous office environment and work style -
In the new headquarters TDK introduces a range of facilities such as open meeting spaces, meeting rooms fit to versatile purposes, and communication areas (with a cafe corner) that shall enable an office environment in which employees can work with vigor. By encouraging active communication and creative ideas with a new work style such as co-working, activity-based workspaces and unassigned seating, TDK will aspire to foster innovation.

- Open space: A variety of meeting spaces are installed, allowing carefree gatherings and meetings
- Communication areas: A cafe corner is attached, allowing employees to attend meetings in a relaxed setting.
