The WCA will be held principally at London Stadium, well known as the main stadium for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Given the popularity of track and field sports in Europe, the WCA are expected to draw considerable attention on each day.

During the event, approximately 2,000 elite top athletes from more than 200 countries, more than those who took part in the Olympics, will compete in 47 events. Past championships have seen many world records and thrilling dramas, and for athletes the WCA rank with the Olympics in significance. All over the world, TDK supports athletes who are challenging their personal limits.

4.The WCA and TDK

TDK has been sponsoring the WCA since the inaugural event in Helsinki in 1983 as sponsor of the number bibs. The sponsorship reflects TDK’s eagerness to support athletes who are seeking to define their own futures through an unstinting commitment to attempt new records and personal improvements, a commitment that is in line with TDK’s own corporate stance of defining its future by using its unique expertise to contribute to society with new technologies. With an official IAA partnership agreement effective until 2019, TDK will continue to promote official partner activities for the IAAF World Championships in Athletics.

TDK will provide sponsorship for programs on EUROSPORTS, a sports TV program in Europe, and BS-TBS in Japan, respectively, in their broadcasting timeframes. In addition, it will share part of the dramatic athletics competition through a photo gallery on dedicated pages for the WCA set up on TDK’s website.
