The Current State of Autonomous Driving: Real-World Deployment of Next-Generation Mobility Driven by AI
On July 24, 2026, ahead of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship "2026 TDK Tokyo E-Prix," TDK, an official partner of the event, held a forum called "Change. Accelerated. Live. Tokyo" to discuss the future of mobility electrification and the energy transition. The speakers at this forum were Noboru Saito, President & CEO of TDK Corporation, and Hiroki Tsukamoto, Head of the City Mobility Department within the Social Innovation Division of NTT Docomo Business, Inc.’s Business Solutions Headquarters. The session was moderated by Kiyoshi Tanigawa, Vice Chairman of the Japan Motorsports Journalists Association. Focusing on next-generation mobility, CEO Saito discussed what the AI era makes possible and how to put it into practice, from the shift to electric vehicles (EVs) to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving.
Key Points
- As EVs and autonomous driving technologies evolve, TDK is helping create mobility that is safer, more comfortable, and more sustainable.
- Advancing autonomous driving and ADAS depends on accurately sensing a vehicle's condition and surroundings, and on making use of vast amounts of data. TDK's sensing and power management technologies support the safety and reliability of next-generation mobility.
- TDK's Venture Spirit, the drive to keep refining its technology and aim ever higher, resonates strongly with Formula E's mission to push the future of mobility forward at the cutting edge of EV technology.
