Sep. 16, 2015
TDK Corporation will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its establishment as a corporate entity on December 07, 2015. To further commemorate this milestone in its history, TDK is pleased to announce its decision to act as the crown sponsor of the “Japan Tour 2016” of the Berliner Philharmoniker , conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.
Since 2001 TDK Corporation has acted as a crown sponsor of performances by premiere orchestras from around the world in Japan, under the billing of “TDK Orchestra Concert.” This effort comprises one phase of the long-standing TDK corporate mission to “Contribute to culture and industry through creativity.”
The 2016 event marks the fifth time for TDK to support performances of the Berliner Philharmoniker in Japan, dating from its first sponsorship of such a series of musical events in 2005.
The Berliner Philharmoniker Orchester was founded in 1882, and has fostered a reputation of one of the world’s finest symphony orchestras ever since. It is celebrated for its ability to perennially attract top-flight musicians from all countries of the world, while sustaining and passing on a rich and unsurpassed history and tradition of excellence over the decades.
In recent years, the orchestra has also been devoting scrupulous efforts to the cause of advancing musical programs for young people, channeling major energies into children’s workshops, dance projects and other creative undertakings that have fostered great successes. Seizing the initiative in paving new roads to progress in this way, the Berliner Philharmoniker is determined to help point the way to the positive evolution of orchestras for many generations to come.
As noted, the Berliner Philharmoniker has spared no time or effort in its quest to constantly excel at the pinnacle of the symphony orchestra genre, passing on its revered legacy and tradition while instigating innovative changes aimed at forging an even brighter tomorrow.
This stance strikes a particularly harmonious chord with TDK, a recognized corporate force in magnetic technology that continues to rise to the challenge of spawning landmark expertise in all aspects of its work. Within this mission, TDK has likewise paid keen attention to treasuring and transferring the DNA it has cultivated over the generations, striving for technological advances positioned to truly transform the face of the future.
This latest series of concerts by the Berliner Philharmoniker in Japan will feature an extremely precious and lavish program, spanning the entire cycle of Beethoven’s First through Ninth Symphonies. For TDK as well, this is shaping up as a supremely memorable event truly befitting the company’s 80th anniversary. In this sense, TDK is confident that these performances will generate even greater interest and attention among music enthusiasts and students than has been the case in past years.
