As our Japanese language coordinator, I work to support communications between the design team, based in Japan, and our manufacturing operations in Thailand. Besides interpreting for those traveling here on business from Japan, I am also closely involved in the work of launching new equipment installations. Another key aspect of my duties is to facilitate strategic discussions between different divisions in order to arrive at unified answers. These conversations often take place between a variety of different cultures and languages. While the responsibilities are heavy and the work can be quite formidable, the ability to take on new challenges every day gives me great pride and satisfaction. At TDK Thailand, we are also actively involved in traditional Thai events. One of these festive events is the “Song Kran” water festival, in which water is sprinkled over managers as a means of showing respect. By encouraging participation in these cultural activities, we provide opportunities to interact directly across the divisions of rank and position. I truly enjoy that part of the corporate culture here.

My job as a sales staff member is to develop and cultivate a long-term partnership with strategic customers. When the customer and TDK reach a mutually beneficial solution after tough negotiations, I feel very satisfied. When I joined TDK, I was often told by one of my bosses to “Enjoy the pressure!” TDK’s company culture encourages us to face difficult challenges directly, taking responsibility for finding sustainable and forward-looking solutions. My fellow employees and I share a desire to surmount consequential challenges and are proud to fulfil such an important role within the company. Our work brings us confidence that we are contributing significantly to the TDK Group. This sense of team spirit, which bonds outstanding employees together, is one of TDK’s key strengths. I am engaged in research and development aimed at satisfying customer needs in terms of systems. Having had a deep interest in microelectronics, I chose TDK as my new base for research after acquiring my PhD. At TDK, we are always tackling new challenges, so my work stays constantly interesting. Another of TDK’s many attractive qualities as a company is that its corporate environment is fair; good ideas to satisfy customer needs are welcome from anyone, regardless of their position. In the process of seeking ways to find the ideal solutions for customers, I find it very stimulating to discover applicable knowledge from disparate disciplines. My aim is to develop era-defining new products in my own field that become the global standard.

After living in Japan for five years, I decided to join the TDK business base in Singapore. My current duties involve proposing solutions to the issues faced by our customers as well as planning product promotions and related activities. I am stimulated by every encounter with customers and TDK members, both internationally and here in Singapore. The opportunity to meet and network with customers from around the world constantly motivates and inspires me. My personal aim is to steadily expand my knowledge of today’s technology, which literally continues to evolve at an accelerating pace, while steadily furnishing proposals, which exceed the demands of our customers. As I deepen the collaboration between the members of our team, I will continue to devote my energies to the challenges ahead in a concerted push to contribute to the company’s growth.

Striving for new heights in a corporate culture of mutual support

As a finance director, I generate and analyze financial reports at TDK-Lambda Israel, an overseas affiliate of TDK, and as HR development director, I am responsible for driving the positive culture and environment in the company. I feel that TDK is especially outstanding in its stance of overcoming challenges and continuously seeking more ambitious goals with a positive attitude. Our company’s framework is that in every activity and result, no matter how successful, there is room for improvement. The critical elements necessary to prevail over those challenges are collaboration between employees as well as a strong sense of belonging within the company and alignment with its values. One of the ways that I myself have observed TDK’s deeply-rooted culture of mutual support has been when employees offer assistance to co-workers who have been in distress or difficulty. I am proud to be a member of an organization like TDK.

Mobilizing expertise to effectively respond to challenges

My role as team leader is to coordinate all aspects of Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) efficiency improvements, from proposals through final implementation. The products our team works with are extremely small. To further improve our products, our work requires that we focus on tiny components, which are completely invisible to the naked eye. I firmly believe that the fruits of such efforts will not only raise the efficiency of these components, but also support growth both on a personal level and for the company as a whole. Another strength of TDK’s company culture is the respect for employee individuality, combined with a steady support for nurturing interpersonal skills. This union of respect and support provides a crucial foundation for employees’ enthusiasm for their work, and it serves to fuel their desire for self-improvement. Based on a firm grasp of the expectations upon me as a team leader, I undertake each challenge confident of a successful outcome. Grounded with this confidence, I am committed to continuing to perform at my very best.
