The types of batteries are diversifying with advances in technology. The CeraCharge all-solid-state battery developed by TDK is a new type of secondary battery that is both safe and long-lasting with no concerns about leaking or catching fire. It is the world’s first rechargeable SMD-type (capable of being directly mounted on a circuit board) all-solid-state battery.

If the contents of a battery can be made solid, the battery will be safer, have a longer lifespan, and be more resistant to heat. It is thought that in the future, high-capacity batteries, such as those used in electric vehicles, will be replaced by all-solid-state batteries.

If an energy storage system (ESS) is available, electric power generated at home can be stored for use when needed, eliminating concerns about power outages. Electric bills will be smaller and more renewable energy will be used, achieving more prosperous and eco-friendly lifestyles.
