TDK Corporation and Yamagata Design Co., Ltd., on May 25, 2021, signed a community development cooperation agreement aimed at revitalizing the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture and Nikaho and Yurihonjo Cities in Akita Prefecture using the combined resources of the two companies. Headquartered in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, Yamagata Design creates models to solve issues encountered by regional cities in Japan. As one example of an activity utilizing the resources of the two companies, TDK has been designated as a SORAI Platinum Supporter. (TDK was at the time of the agreement led by President Shigenao Ishiguro, and Yamagata Design is led by Representative Director Daisuke Yamanaka.)
Yamagata Design's Kids Dome SORAI, an all-weather educational facility in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, uses play as a means of nurturing the power needed by children to live in the future. About 85,000 people visit the facility every year. As a SORAI Platinum Supporter, TDK will sponsor activities at the Kids Dome SORAI and will collaborate with Yamagata Design to create engineering workshops where children can learn while having fun. The workshops will be held at the TDK Museum in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture.
